HOD’s Welcome Message
On behalf of the faculty, students and support staff, I have the distinct honour and pleasure of welcoming you to the Department of Public Health, AAMUSTED, Mampong Campus.
Our department is committed to developing skilled, ethical, and solution-oriented public health professionals. We do this by combining strong scientific grounding with practical training and entrepreneurial thinking. This prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully to public health practice, research, policy, and community development.
What Sets Us Apart
At the Department of Public Health, students are taught and mentored by experienced, dedicated faculty who prioritise academic quality, professional growth, and student success. We promote an active research culture focused on priority public health needs. This spans from environmental and occupational health risks, health promotion, disease prevention, and nutrition. We ensure that teaching remains grounded in current realities and practical problem-solving. We also work closely with local institutions and stakeholders, strengthening learning through collaboration, improving community engagement, and creating opportunities for joint initiatives that address public health challenges.
Practical Training and Student Development
Embedded in all our programmes are experiential learning opportunities, so students graduate with confidence and are ready for the workplace. Among these opportunities are:
- Internship placements in health facilities and relevant organisations, helping students apply classroom knowledge in real public health settings.
- Annual field visits to public health institutions, exposing students to practical operations, systems, and emerging sector challenges.
- Structured support that builds professionalism, teamwork, leadership, and communication
Join us
If you are a prospective student seeking rigorous training, strong mentorship, and practical exposure that prepare you for impact, we invite you to explore and enrol in any of our programmes.
We also welcome partnerships to support training, cutting-edge research, community engagement, and/or field-based learning to strengthen public health systems.
