Faculty of Environment and Health Education organizes workshop on professional development and applying for promotion

The Faculty of Environment and Health Education organized a one-day workshop on June 5th, 2024, at the Chapel Extension conference room. The workshop aimed to enhance professional development among academic staff and provide guidance on applying for promotion. It was well-attended by faculty members from both the Department of Environmental Health and Sanitation Education and the Department of Public Health Education. Professional development is crucial for academic staff, fostering networking and deepening discipline-specific knowledge, while promotion serves as a recognition of their dedication and expertise.

The workshop featured distinguished facilitators: Prof. Emmanuel Dartey, Prof. Richard Amankwa Kuffour, and Ing. Prof. Isaac Monney. Prof. Bismark Dwumfour-Asare, the Dean of the faculty, chaired the event. Prof. Dartey, drawing from his extensive experience on the Appointment and Promotion Board, shared insights on the promotion application process. He emphasized avoiding common pitfalls and highlighted the importance of community service, journal publications, and teaching contributions. Prof. Kuffour underscored collaborative research, fostering professional relationships within the university, and maintaining diligence in all endeavours. Ing. Prof. Monney conducted a practical session on preparing promotion documents, covering compiling journal articles, crafting Curriculum Vitae, completing application forms, and assembling necessary appendices.

The workshop included interactive Q&A sessions where participants engaged with the facilitators, seeking clarification and guidance. The academic staff expressed enthusiasm about the workshop, commending the Faculty for organizing an enlightening and beneficial event.
