3rd Edition of the “Life After School” Seminar for Final Year Students
The Department of Environmental Health and Sanitation at AAMUSTED successfully organised the 3rd edition of its “Life After School” seminar on Friday, 16th August, 2024. The seminar aimed at equipping final-year students with essential skills to navigate the transition from academia to the job market. Launched in 2021, this annual seminar continues to serve as a valuable resource for students, helping them to develop critical competencies in areas such as CV writing, online job searching, and job interview preparation.
This year’s seminar was facilitated by Ing. Prof. Isaac Monney, the Head of the Department, whose extensive experience spanning more than a decade provided participants with practical guidance. The event saw a remarkable turnout, with over 200 final-year students in attendance, eager to engage with the practical content presented.
Throughout the seminar, students had the opportunity to pose questions and receive tailored advice on various topics, including crafting an effective CV, conducting online job searches, writing compelling job applications, and preparing for and excelling in job interviews. The session also covered important post-interview activities, giving students a comprehensive understanding of how to successfully manage each phase of the job-seeking process, ensuring they are well-prepared for the job market.
The ‘Life After School’ seminar continues to be instrumental in the department’s effort to adequately prepare its graduates for the competitive job market. Its success is evident in the confidence and preparedness it instils in our students, ensuring that they leave the university well-equipped for professional success.
