APPOINTMENT OF REGISTRAR

The Governing Council of the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED), Kumasi, announces for the information of the Academic Community and the General Public that the position of Registrar of the University shall become vacant on October 01, 2026

THE UNIVERSITY

The University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED), was established by the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development Act 2020 (Act 1026), as amended, in December, 2025. USTED is charged with the responsibility of providing higher education in technical, vocational and entrepreneurial training to develop skilled manpower for job creation and economic development; train and provide teachers with the relevant competence for teaching in technical and vocational education and training institutions; train and provide teachers with the relevant competence for teaching entrepreneurial development, and to develop strong linkages between the University, industry and the community.

THE REGISTRAR

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer. He is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the University under the Vice-Chancellor, and in accordance with policy directives of the University Council. The Registrar is the secretary to the University Council and the Academic Board. He/she provides strategic advice and briefings to the Vice-Chancellor. He/she provides leadership and management across a wide-range of activities.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

An applicant must possess the following:

Either,

Aat least, a master’s degree in a relevant field with not less than fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience in an institution of higher learning, and at the grade of a Deputy Registrar.

OR

Bsenior management experience in a large, complex, and decentralised organisation, preferably in an academic institution.In addition,
he/she must have:
i. strong intellect with managerial,
ii. communication and interpersonal skills;
iii. a deep appreciation of the academic environment of a tertiary education institution;
iv. good principles with strong and proven sense of public morality and integrity;
v. an understanding of university governance, the history, regulations and evolution of universities as well as local higher education policy and practice;
vi. and considerable experience in dealing with a wide-range of internal and external publics.

TENURE OF OFFICE

A candidate must be eligible to hold office for a minimum of four (4) years from the date of appointment. The appointment may be renewed for another term only.
